We both had a good sleep except for one mozzie which buzzed in our ears, bit us but avoided our swats throughout the night. I think it went from me to Kim then back for the next round. Kim got her revenge on it in the morning and squashed it full of blood. Coffee and porridge for breakfast. Tastes and feels good...like a big hug on the inside. Just what we need.

The cold and flu tablets have started to dry Kim up but she still isn’t feeling 100% so a short ride is in order today. It's a slow start. Leave at 11am. Easy riding through fields and forest. Well it is until headwinds picked up! Haven’t had to deal with headwinds for months so it’s a bit of shock to the system...lucky the terrain is flat.
At some point during the ride we notice Pacman has a soft tyre. Not completely flat but pretty close. I look at the wheel and can't see anything which would cause a flat. Decide to pump it up to see how long it takes to go down. Before we left Australia I put self healing fluid in the tubes on the bike. I don't think it worked well with the back bike tyre as it caused of our valve to block in our first flat in Bulgaria. Probably user error though, you're not supposed to pump them up unless the valve is at 12 o'clock. Our other 3 tubes though have stood the test of time. Not a flat in any of them. Anyway, while I'm pumping up the tyre Kim decides it's a good time to stop for a snack...peaches. They are so juicy and sweet!

Arrive at our hotel - Astheimer Schlösschen at 1pm. Pacmans tyre is still up. We can check in early - Yay! Park Polly and Pacman in a room behind reception and are grateful for the receptionist for changing our room from the 3rd floor to the 1st. Only one flight of stairs! The village is tiny... food options are limited. The hotel has a restaurant…turns out to be Indian.
I try their local wheat beer and Kim chooses a mango lassi. Dahl soup and naan for Kim. I have the lamb curry. Both are delicious. The owner comes over to chat once we have finished. He is from Punjab but has travelled and worked a lot through Europe - Tashkent, Moscow, Kiev, Belarus, Barcelona and now Astheim.

Lazy afternoon napping, resting, blogging and planning.
